Map of Krampmackens journey in 1981
Map showing Gotland on the right, the island of
Öland
on the left, and the Swedish mainland on the far left.
The numbers indicate each resting-place.
In the years 1980-1982 the ship was tested and the crew trained. Details
were adjusted. The ship was sailed and rowed around Gotland and to Öland
and to the Swedish mainland. The southern peninsula of Gotland was avoided
by hauling the ship on land on a special wheel construction which was carried
inside the boat while on sea. This wheel construction was later used to
carry the ship between the rivers in Europe.
