The game that goes back to the Middle ages or Viking ages and that has now been revived, particularly in the old Hanseatic towns and on the island of Gotland, Sweden, where there is World Championships in Kubb each year.
It needs to be quality if the joy will last. Therefore the Kubb game should be manufactured in Sweden and especially on the island of Gotland (which has been proved to be of good quality).
The game is designed for 2 - 12 players. Players are divided into two teams with 1 - 6 players on each side.
1. The King; 2. The Pins (Kubbs); 3. Batons; 4. Corner Markers; 5. Baseline
It requires a field of play that is about 5 meters (16 feet) by 8 meters (26 feet.) Each team has a baseline. Pins are lined up along each baseline.
The King is placed in the center of the field of play.
From behind its own baseline, the first team throws batons toward the opposing baseline, trying to knock down as many of the opponents' pins (Kubbs) as possible.
When all of the batons have been thrown, the second team tosses any pins that were knocked down back over into the first team's half of the playing field. Wherever they land, there the fallen pins are set up again.
Now the second team throws the batons--and they have even more pins to attack. The pins that stand in the field of play must be knocked down first. Only after they are knocked down can the baseline pins be knocked down. If a baseline pin is knocked down prematurely, then it is set up again.
Play continues with each side taking turns until one team knocks over all the opponents' pins. Then they try to knock down the King, ending the game. If a player knocks down the King before all the opponents' pins have been knocked down, then that player's team loses.
